  1. i used to have alot of red breasted nut hatches in my yard… the babies used to walk down my silver maple tree and take seeds from my hand… this year we have not 1 of these sweet birds n i miss em! peace out~

  2. I live in Southern Vermont and have one feeder. I get a variety of birds and am striving to learn their names. I have two small bird identification books. The feeder is in view from my desk, so I often spend time watching the different birds land and eat. No feeder now because it may attract bears, but it will go up in October. Some birds still eat off the ground.

  3. I enjoy your articles Scott, thank you for sharing knowledge. I am an avid ‘backyard feeder’, and also monitor a few Eagle and Osprey nests for our DNR. Cheers…

  4. Thoroughly enjoy the segments allowing what so many of us take for granted and in my case recreating the interests my family once enjoyed. thx

  5. Some of the birds in the quiz are not found in No Cal.
How do I find how many of my answers are correct/incorrect?
    Doug

  6. What a great site! Thank you for much for the information on birds. We need to learn more about them. We have many squirrels, birds, an occasional raccoon and opossum that frequent our yard as well. Love them all. The feral kitties are also indoors and enjoy watching them too.

  7. I have a “naturally” active yard with visits from many species. Would like to do more so Thanks for offering your guidance.

  8. I didn’t get any results, not on this page or in the email. I don’t know any of these birds as I live in South Africa. I unsubscribed. Disappointing.

  9. Love all the pictures and information you help us with birds. I appreciate your dedication and your support and suggestions. Thank you so very much!!

  11. That was fun..I love watching birds..nature in general..I got 9 out of 10.lol..I missed the female house finch..I thought I saw a little gold so picked female goldfinch..darn

  12. I love to watch the birds that come to my birdfeeders and to the ground around them. The cardinals that come seem to be ground feeders. They never feed from the feeders. They also seem to be much more skittish than the other birds. On the other hand, the Chicadees seem to be the bravest.

  13. That was fun as I don’t recognise any of those birds – I live in the UK. Our birds are quite different so I was guessing. Bird populations are shrinking rapidly so some of our gardeners are trying to include as much wildlife friendly habitat as possible. Untidy gardens rule! Sadly our government seems to be hell bent on destroying the countryside in pursuit of expensive and ecologically ruinous projects. Hey ho. I know it’s a similar problem for you too- all we can do is try to mitigate the damage and spread the word. Good luck Scott

  14. I think some of my answers were on the right track. Woodpeckers are loud come spring time. And I understand doves mate for life . But a friend and I seen a jigalow dove, going down the line .trying to get a female to give it up. Then one day, his feathers were so tore up. There was no way rain could have fixed them. Thanks for the pop quiz.😁
